Merkur's 37C Heavy Duty Slant Bar has a uniquely designed slanted blade-guard which causes the blade to slice through heavy beards rather than pull through them (just as a snow-plow blade is angled to easily work through a pile of snow). The Slant Bar is handled exactly as any other double edge razor - no special manipulation is required. However, this razor has a reputation as a very aggressive shaver and is recommended mainly for the experienced safety razor user with a particularly thick or coarse beard. The Slant Bar would not be a good choice for the beginner. This two-piece razor has a turning knob at the handle base that releases the long-screw top plate for blade replacement. Its larger, heavier handle measures 3" long x 7/16" diameter, and has a secure-grip incised cross-hatched design. Non-adjustable angled straight-edge head measures 1-5/8" long x 1" wide.
