1. Wash your hair and dry it. Pomade adheres best to clean, dry hair.

2. Soften the pomade by heating the container with a blow dryer for a few seconds. Especially when using a heavy-weight pomade, the mixture will be thick and hard to spread in your palms.

3. Put a penny-sized amount of pomade into your hands and rub your hands together, until the pomade is spread evenly on your palms. It's better to start with a small amount and add more if needed than to use too much.

3. Tame curls by applying pomade to your strands from mid-shaft through to the ends. This works especially well for people with curly hair who live in humid climates, where curls tend to frizz.

4. Separate and texture layers by applying a small amount of pomade to the ends of your hair. This works best by using your fingertips to apply the pomade and then gently separate the layers to add texture.
